COBOLT boldly advocates taking up space today - International Women’s Day 2020 - and every other day of the year. .

As women we're often taught to shrink ourselves, both literally and figuratively- physically and politically. We're taught to be apologetic, to wait for permission and approval, and to not take up too much space. We're judged by others and judge ourselves to a cripplingly high standard when we're seen to fall short of these demands of us that are underpinned by limiting gender stereotypes. Women's voices are outnumbered in Parliament, in local councils and in boardrooms where key decisions are made that affect our lives; our faces are missing from stage and screen and sports arenas. That needs to change. This mural is a call to women to push and keep pushing the boundaries towards gender equality. COBOLT urges all women to stand tall, be bold, be joyful without shame and Take Up Space. .
